Joel Klatt, the lead college football analyst at Fox Sports, didn’t mince words when he spoke about USC during a FS1 radio broadcast Wednesday.
“It’s a very talented team that’s not going to reach expectations,” said Klatt, who was a quarterback at Colorado from 2002 to 2005.
USC was picked to win the Pac-12 Conference in a preseason media poll.
“They aren’t going to win the South Division, they aren’t going to win the Pac-12,” Klatt said. “They’re just not tough enough.”
After opening the season with convincing victories over Arkansas State and Idaho of the Sun Belt Conference, USC stumbled in a 41-31 defeat by Stanford in their Pac-12 opener.
The Trojans, ranked 17th in the AP Poll, bounced back with a 42-14 road victory over Arizona State last weekend.
USC has an open date on Saturday and will host Washington on Oct. 8.
