This Is Not a David Sedaris Event! The sardonic NPR humorist and bestselling author will not be in attendance at this holiday soiree (his next live Southland appearance isn’t scheduled until May), but his impish spirit will be alive and well. (626) 449-5320. https://www.vromansbookstore.com.

Susan Bernard The author of “Marilyn: Intimate Exposures” will sign and discuss her new book, a collection of photographs her father, Bruno Bernard, took of Marilyn Monroe throughout her career. Actors Thomas Jane and Rose McGowan will join Bernard. Largo at the Coronet, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd., L.A. 8 p.m. Free with RSVP. (323) 935-0035.

MUSIC

Peter Murphy The singer for the darkly melodic ‘80s goth band Bauhaus is teaming up with L.A.’s She Wants Revenge for several local shows. Given the former’s pedigree and legend, and the latter’s success as post-punk revivalists, the match is fitting and should be satisfyingly angsty. Nokia Theater, 800 W. Olympic Blvd., L.A. 8:30 p.m. $29.50 to $38. (213) 765-7000. https://www.clubnokia.com.
