A day at Disneyland in 90 seconds? Yep, thanks to new time-lapse video
Matt Givot took his camera to Disneyland a few months ago and snapped images fast, really fast, roughly at a speed of one photo every two seconds. Why? He wanted to compress a trip to Disneyland into a minute-and-a-half thrill ride.
“In one afternoon, we used time-lapse photography to show some of the enchanting experiences guests from all over the world come to Disneyland to enjoy,” he writes in describing the video he made with Dan Douglas called “Welcome to the Magic — A Disneyland Timelapse.”
This is no commercial venture. Givot’s passion for Walt Disney’s sense of creativity and the enduring culture he created drove the Orange County native to make this personal project. (Yes, he’s a professional photographer who specializes in architecture and other commercial work.)
Givot and Douglas spent about 10 hours at the park taking 18,000 images of Disneyland, California Adventure and even Downtown Disney. Images were color corrected, edited by sequence and cut together to create a whoosh of a visit.
“Disneyland is a gold mine for time-lapse,” Givot says. “We take it for granted because we live here. I want people to see this in a way they’ve never seen it before.”
If Givot’s style seems familiar, it’s because he’s the guy who shot the time-lapse video of the Endeavour’s trip through the streets of Los Angeles that got big buzz online.
Which leaves me wondering, what’s next?
