San Diego scene in style

Christopher Reynolds neglected to note a reasonably priced restaurant, both dine-in and takeout -- one of the best places to eat near Petco Park [“San Diego at the Plate,” May 9]. The Tin Fish Gaslamp is next to the Padres’ Petco Park and across the street from the San Diego Convention Center. There is indoor and outdoor seating in an attractive setting.

Owner Joseph Melluso’s marvelously fresh seafood is a treat, and most everything is under $15. My personal favorite is a grilled salmon taco, big enough for a meal, served with cole slaw. The menu ranges from fish and chips (of halibut, swordfish, cod), delicious crab cakes and soups to chicken and burgers. The Tin Fish has a sister restaurant at the end of the Imperial Beach pier, where you can sit outside with views of the Coronado Islands, downtown skyline, Point Loma and the beach and listen to live music on the weekends.

There you go again, reporting on travel sites with $300- to $400-per-night hotels. Visitors, if they can afford to come, will also be treated to $7 for a premium beer and $17 parking at the Padres’ Petco Park or $1 per 20 minutes at Seaport Village shopping center.
