Los Lobos will be headlining a daylong concert that pays tribute to the original Man in Black, Johnny Cash. The rock band, which joined the lineup Monday, will perform at the sixth Roadshow Revival and play alongside tribute bands like The Mighty Cash Cats and the Cold Hard Cash show.

So what’s the Cash connection with Ventura? He moved to the Casitas Springs area with his first wife Vivian and their three daughters in 1961. It was during a dark period when Cash was doing drugs and about to break up his marriage.

One of his daughters, Cindy, who only recently left Ventura, is one of the event‘s producers.

Hugh Waddell, Cash’s former publicist and aide, will share stories and MC the daylong event at the Ventura County Fairgrounds on June 14. Dale Watson, The Paladins, James Intveld, Snake Oil Sales Men and other acts will perform too.

Fans also can take a tour that stops at the Casitas Springs ranch house, his office in downtown Ventura, the church he attended and his parents’ home.

In addition to the music, the Johnny Cash Memorabilia Gallery at the festival will feature items like clothes, guitars and even his Mercedes-Benz. And speaking of cars, classic hot rods, custom cars and vintage motorcycles will be on display too.

Tickets cost $35, $75 for preferred seating and $175 for the VIP Lounge.
