Who says philanthropy doesn’t pay off? Bono and his wife, Ali Hewson, are about to appear in an LVMH campaign wearing Edun, ‘the ethical clothing label they founded in 2005 to encourage trade with Africa, and in which LVMH took a 49% stake last year.’ What’s more, ‘it’s the first time the U2 front man has appeared in an ad without his band, and the first time a label other than [Louis] Vuitton is getting a fashion credit.’ [Women’s Wear Daily]

Prepping apparently pays off, as well. Check out some of the stars of the Emmy red carpet and learn who did their faces, their dresses .... and who the heck wears a dress out of her own closet! [Los Angeles Times]

Halle Berry did not attend the Emmys on Sunday. Why would she? Instead, Berry, a face of Revlon, lunched at Ron Perelman’s home in the Hampton’s. Hard to believe but photos would seem to indicate she continues to look, well, perfect. [Huffington Post]

Endorsing certainly pays off. Fergie (about whom all things must be known) is a blond again, thanks to her new role as a spokeswoman for Avon Advanced Techniques. [People]

And, finally, branding pays off, but only sometimes. Kim Kardashian, who looked lovely on the Emmy red carpet, seems to be involved in a feud with Sephora. Apparently there’s confusion about whether the retail chain has exclusive rights to sell her perfume. [New York Post]
