Dolly Parton, Elton John and band Poison among Tony night performers

The Tony Awards ceremony is starting to look a little like the Grammys, thanks to some high-voltage pop music stars who are scheduled to make appearances on Sunday evening’s telecast on CBS.

Dolly Parton, a nominee for her music to ‘9 to 5: The Musical,’ will appear on stage during the ceremony with the cast from her show, which includes Allison Janney, Stephanie Block and Megan Hilty. Also set to appear is Elton John, who will perform with the ensemble from ‘Billy Elliot: The Musical,’ for which the singer is nominated for his score.

The ‘80s metal band Poison will sing with the cast of ‘Rock of Ages,’ the jukebox musical about an aspiring rock group on the Sunset Strip. The dark-horse show, which originated at Hollywood’s King King club before moving to Las Vegas and then Broadway, received five nominations, including one for best musical.

Liza Minnelli, whose one-woman show ‘Liza’s at the Palace’ is nominated for best special event, is also scheduled to perform during the ceremony.

The ceremony’s presenters this year include Nicole Kidman, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Spacey, Jane Fonda, Edie Falco, Frank Langella and Anne Hathaway.

This year’s host will be Neil Patrick Harris, who will kick off the television broadcast at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
