The Getty Center in Brentwood has announced that it will be closed to visitors and most staff on July 16 and 17 due to road closures in connection with the scheduled demolition of the Mulholland Drive Bridge. The Getty Villa near Malibu will not be affected.

The bridge is being demolished as part of the 405 Freeway widening project. The northbound 405 will be closed between the 101 and 10 freeways starting before midnight on July 15 until early July 18. A four-mile stretch of the southbound 405 is also expected to be closed.

Officials recommend that drivers should stay home or keep clear of neighborhoods such as Westwood, Bel-Air and Brentwood that weekend.

The Getty Center will open again to visitors on July 19, at 10 a.m., officials said.
