Brian Bedford’s Tony-nominated turn as Lady Bracknell in the current Broadway revival of “The Importance of Being Earnest” is worth a long plane ride, but fortunately now you won’t have to leave town to encounter this marvelously droll cross-dressing feat. The Roundabout Theatre Company production, in which Bedford’s chin is worn very high in the haughty old Victorian style, is coming to a movie theater and a performing arts center near you.
Presented by Roundabout Theatre Company, L.A. Theatre Works and BY Experience, “The Importance of Being Earnest: Live in HD” will be shown in screenings across the U.S. and internationally on Thursday as well as on various dates throughout the month. Venues include the James Bridges Theater at UCLA (Thursday, Sunday and June 23 and 26), Hollywood’s Mann Chinese 6 (Thursday and June 7), Downtown Independent (June 9) and La Mirada Theatre (June 26).
