A Katsuya teaser: SBE’s Katsuya Downtown is slated to open late next month at L.A. Live. It’s the fourth Sam Nazarian-Katsuya Uechi-Philippe Starck collaboration (following Brentwood, Hollywood and Glendale). The 7,500-square-foot restaurant is, according to a release, an ‘homage to the traditional bento box.’ Some design details: At the center of the restaurant will be a large, rectangular, noren-crowned sushi bar. The restaurant also will feature a private lounge, an outdoor dining patio and a 33-foot-long bar. You’ll recognize the oversized images of the eyes and lips of the Katsuya geisha. Surprise, surprise, expect lounge-y. 800 W. Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, (213) 747-9797, www.sbe.com/katsuya.

Hungry Cat goings-on: The Hungry Cat announces Crabfest IV, June 21, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Here’s the menu: a crab roll amuse; crab soup with bacon fat cornbread; pan-roasted soft-shell crab with corn and haricots verts salad and pancetta butter; steamed crabs (6 to the order, additional charge for more) with marinated tomatoes and coleslaw; and stone fruit cobbler. $60 per person. Also, a prix fixe lunch starts May 26, 12 to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, $20. And finally, happy hour has been extended, now noon to 6 p.m. instead of 3 to 6 p.m. 1535 N.
