Soba workshop: On July 10, Tortoise in Venice is teaming up with Sonoko Sakai, food writer and cook, to teach a summer soba class for beginners at the Abbot Kinney studio. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sakai will show attendees how to knead the dough and prepare dipping sauces. The class is $95 per person. Gastro-truck dinner: The “Hatchi Truck Stop” series at Breadbar’s Century City location features a new food truck chef each month. This month’s guest--the fourth in the gastro-truck series--is Flatiron Truck. On June 30, diners can line up from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for eight featured small plates, priced at $8 each.
