Manny Ramirez, who left Friday’s game because of a tight right calf, did not play Saturday and is not in Sunday’s starting lineup.

‘He’s pinch-hit-able,’ Manager Joe Torre said.

The Dodgers want to give Ramirez two extra days to recover, since Monday is an off day. Torre said he expects Ramirez can return Tuesday.

Torre also said James Loney would not start because of his record against San Francisco starter Barry Zito: 1 for 20, with 6 strikeouts. Torre said he left Loney in the lineup against Zito late last season, when Loney was hitting the ball well.

‘So I gave him another 0 for 6 or 7,’ Torre said.

Reed Johnson is in left field for Ramirez, with Ron Belliard at first base for Loney. Torre also said second baseman Blake DeWitt would sit in favor of Jamey Carroll so the Dodgers could get another right-handed bat in the lineup against Zito.

Relievers Hong-Chih Kuo and Ronald Belisario each are scheduled to pitch in a minor league game Sunday, with Belisario also scheduled to pitch Monday. If all goes well, Kuo could be activated Tuesday and Belisario could be activated Wednesday.

The Dodgers’ bullpen enters play Sunday with a 5.96 ERA, worst in the National League West.
