When no Manny news just might be good Manny news …

The Dodgers announced that Manny Ramirez felt better Thursday. He underwent an MRI in Phoenix that showed the expected right hamstring inflammation.

But he was not placed on the disabled list, and at the moment that doesn’t appear to be his destination. Certainly, the Dodgers will avoid it if they can.

The Dodgers said they would wait and see how Ramirez had progressed by Friday before making their next move. Any improvement, and it’s unlikely he’ll visit the DL this time.

Ramirez, 38, already has had one stint on the DL this season with a strained right calf.

Manny injured his right hamstring with an awkward slide in the first inning Tuesday. He did not play Wednesday.

Meanwhile, reliever Cory Wade was outrighted to triple-A Albuquerque. That clears a spot on the 40-man roster.

Wade, 26, had shoulder surgery in March. He was an unexpected relief gem in 2008, appearing in 55 games with a 2.27 ERA as a rookie. But he struggled last season (5.53 ERA) and his shoulder twice landed him on the DL.
