Harry and the Potters, tonight in L.A.

It’s been 13 years since Scholastic published J.K. Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ in the U.S. Ever since, the boy wizard and his friends from Hogwarts have been charming Muggles. I mean readers.
People who became fans with the first Harry Potter book in 1998 are now getting pretty grown up. Back in 2002, between the publication of ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,’ two brothers did what teenage brothers do -- they decided to start a band. In the case of Paul and Joe DeGeorge, then 15 and 23, it was a Harry Potter-themed band.
Paul and Joe DeGeorge played the first Harry and the Potters show in their parents’ Massachusetts backyard, but have done big tours -- usually in the summer -- in the years since. They’ve become one of the standouts of wizard rock -- dozens of bands fall into the Harry-Potter-band genre -- playing their alternative rock songs of and about Harry Potter. And dressing to match.
More than 1,000 people showed up in Tuscon to hear the brothers perform last week, prompting them to add a second set. On Tuesday night, they’re performing at L.A.’s Central Library in downtown Los Angeles. The show, which is free, is set to begin at 6 p.m.
