Taking its name from the French term for basket, the Panier by fraternal Parisian designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec appears to be a 2-foot-diameter bread holder rendered in jewel-toned polycarbonate, a shatter-resistant plastic that can be used indoors and out. The easy-to-assemble 2006 design can be used as an open-topped storage container or turned into a 9-inch-tall side table with the addition of a matching lid.

It will be reduced from $314 to $99 during a 60th anniversary sale with discounts of up to 70% at Kartell through June 30.

The event will also include reductions on selected floor models and a 15% discount on orders of new merchandise. It will take place at Kartell Los Angeles, part of the Diva Group, 313 N. Robertson Blvd. (310) 271-0178. Visit Kartell for a list of retailers worldwide.

The Bouroullecs’ lightweight and translucent Papyrus chair, a 2009 design that coordinates well with the colors of the Panier table, will be priced at $297 during the 60th anniversary sale at Kartell. It is regularly priced at $349. Below, a detail shot of the Papyrus shows the vertical ribbing around the arms and backrest of the chair, which adds the appearance of an antique woven rush chair to a thoroughly contemporary silhouette.
