Can I recycle ... milk cartons?

The city of L.A. started accepting beverage cartons in its blue bins earlier this week –- a move that could divert as much as 430 tons of waste from area landfills. Developed in coordination with a coalition of carton manufacturers called the Carton Council, L.A.’s new carton recycling initiative includes containers made from paperboard coated with plastic and those made with paperboard, plastic and foil.

Included are cartons that commonly hold milk, juice, soy milk, broth and wine.

Because policies and recommendations can vary from city to city, each week we ask a sampling of officials from different municipalities to weigh in. Can you recycle coated paper cartons in:
