The Torrance driver who allegedly plowed into a pedestrian and then careened along with the fatally struck man in her windshield for more than two miles will be arraigned Tuesday, Torrance police said.

Sgt. Robert Watt said officials may add a felony hit and run to the list of charges Sherri Wilkins, 51, faces in the Saturday night accident. Charges already include manslaughter and drunk driving. Police said Wilkins’ blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

Phillip Moreno, 31, of Torrance was pronounced dead at a local hospital soon after the accident.

Police said they are also looking into Wilkins’ prior history. The Daily Breeze reported that Wilkins was charged in 2010 with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and being under the influence of a controlled substance. The case was either dismissed or not prosecuted, the paper reported.

Wilkins told police that she was driving home from work.
