Teens stole carload of Christmas gifts in San Marino, police say

San Marino police arrested five teenagers with a carload of Christmas gifts on Friday and are trying to find the owners of some of the goods.

At about 11 a.m. Friday San Marino police stopped a vehicle at Sherwood Road and Palmas Drive, according to Sgt. Aaron Blonde. Inside they found five people, a large number of wrapped Christmas gifts and burglary tools.

As officers investigated, they learned from the dispatch center of a burglary earlier that morning at a home on the 1600 block of West Drive. The resident of the West Drive home identified many of the items in the car. Police arrested Jose Vargas, 18, Julio Ahumada,19, Christian Flores, 19, and two juveniles.

Police say the vehicle also contained electronic goods, jewelry and other items that may have been stolen. Witnesses or possible victims are encouraged to contact Det. Susana Franco at (626) 300-0726 or at sfranco@smpd.us.
