It started with a hug, then a kiss. We speak of Justin Bieber‘s very public smooch with girlfriend Selena Gomez at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday in Las Vegas.

And may we just say: Justin and Selena sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.

Bieber, who was attending the show for the first time, tied in wins with rapper Eminem, taking home trophies for top new artist, top social artist, top streaming artist, top digital media artist, top pop album and top streaming song.

When accepting one of his six awards of the night, Bieber simply hugged the Disney darling. But when the gilded blazer-clad singer was announced as the top new artist of 2011, he gave Gomez a kiss (right on the lips!) for everyone to see before taking the stage to accept his trophy. Watch a clip below.

We guess the 17-year-old just couldn’t resist that smoking-hot little black number his girlfriend was wearing. And he seemed extremely grateful to ‘get out’ of his hometown in Ontario, Canada.

Bieber and Gomez, who have been rumored to be dating for months before finally stepping out together at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, crushed the hearts of Bieber fans around the world. The teen idols have been warming up to each other much more frequently in front of camera and recently locked lips for paparazzi at a news conference in Indonesia.

What do you think of the Biebs’ PDA with Gomez -- too cute or too gross? Tell us in comments.
