Saks Fifth Avenue, which made headlines last month when it slashed prices on many of its luxury items by as much as 70%, will close all but two of its bridal departments nationwide.

Saks will stop taking orders for bridal wear on Dec. 31, according to a sales associate at the company’s South Coast Plaza location. The luxury chain will continue to operate bridal salons in its Beverly Hills and Manhattan stores.

According to Bloomberg News, which cited a letter to Saks customers from Kert Rosenkoetter, vice president and general manager of the company’s St. Louis store, the chain decided to close the bridal salons ‘after a thorough analysis of the wedding dress business.’

A Saks spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
