On April 17, 2009, Ford commemorates the 45th anniversary of the iconic Ford Mustang with a four-day celebration in Birmingham, Ala. It started in the spring of 1964, just after the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy. Beatlemania was sweeping the country and the price of gas was 30 cents per gallon. We’ve put together a gallery of historic Ford Mustangs here.

This weekend, here in Southern California, Mustang club members will gather in large numbers to celebrate their favorite car at Fabulous Fords Forever. The event happens Sunday, April 19, at Knott’s Berry Farm’s parking lot in Buena Park from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free, but you must pay $10 for parking unless you walk.
