Madoff now in medical facility at prison

Ponzi scheme mastermind Bernie Madoff has been moved to a medical center at the North Carolina prison complex where he’s serving his 150-year term, according to the Bureau of Prisons website.

The report is all over the Web now, but there’s no explanation of why he was transferred. The Bureau of Prisons isn’t commenting.

Madoff began serving his term at the Butner (N.C.) Federal Correctional Complex in July.

He had been in the prison’s medium-term security complex as recently as two weeks ago, the Wall Street Journal reported.
