Ft. Hood shootings: White House is monitoring

At the White House, where President Obama has been informed of the shootings at the massive Ft. Hood Army base in Texas, where seven are reported dead today, officials were attempting to obtain information about the incident.

The Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, FBI and other members of the intelligence community were gathering and assessing facts, an administration official said.

‘Because this is early in this event, we cannot, at this time, confirm motives behind these shootings,’’ the official said.
