House rejects GOP healthcare plan

Democrats tonight shot down an effort by Republicans to substitute their healthcare plan, clearing the decks for a final vote on the landmark legislation tonight.
The vote was 258 to 176.
The debate on the GOP proposal was more overtly political and strident in tone than the earlier discussion during the daylong debate.
