President Obama’s holiday treat for schoolchildren

WASHINGTON — President Obama made a holiday visit to a youth center today to read to local schoolchildren.

The president traveled from the White House to the Richard England Clubhouse and Community Center in northeast Washington, where he read the Christmas book “The Polar Express.’ The two dozen children sat quietly as Obama, in shirtsleeves, read aloud and held up the pictures so they could see.

The president brought the children Christmas cookies from the White House.
