Shortly after his brief speech this morning on the attempted terrorist attack on Christmas Day, President Obama abruptly left a golf course at the Luana Hills Country Club and returned to his rented Kailua home. The media was not told why he left and then saw an ambulance race into the secure neighborhood where the house is located.

Soon after, White House aides said that the first family was safe, but that a son of a close friend staying in Kailua with the Obamas had sustained a minor injury. The son’s father was worried and wanted to leave the golf course and return to the house to check on his son. There is a chance that the boy will be taken to a medical center for more treatment, out of an abundance of caution, White House aides said.
