PhilCam’s focus at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday in Beijing

That twinkling light in the distance is the Olympic Flame, as captured by the PhilCam from its vantage point above Beijing’s Olympic Green.

PhilCam operator and blogger Philip Hersh’s report on the view at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday: ‘I don’t care how many times they tell me this is haze not pollution, it is depressing and disgusting.’

The Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau website has relevant air pollution data. The Chaoyang District is home to the Olympic Green, where much of the Olympic action will occur. Rowing will be contested in the Renhe Town station in the Shunyi District.
