U.S. women’s foil team advances to gold medal match

BEIJING -- The U.S. women’s foil team continued its upset streak on Saturday, knocking off the No. 3-seeded Hungary in the semifinals, 35-33.

The U.S. squad, which was seeded seventh in the eight-team field, moves to the gold medal match Saturday night against top-ranked and world No. 1 Russia.

Earlier Saturday the U.S. upset No. 2-seeded Poland, 31-30.

The U.S. is now assured of its first Olympic medal in women’s team foil.
