Protesters visit Charles Munger Jr. at home

The day after Halloween, conservative donor Charles Munger Jr. had some visitors less friendly than trick-or-treaters.

A group of protesters gathered outside his Palo Alto home on Thursday, waving signs and leaving fake bags of money on his doorstep.

Activists posted photos and video of the protest online.

Munger, a Stanford physicist, is one of the donors with the deepest pockets in this election. He has contributed $35 million to a campaign committee fighting Gov. Jerry Brown’s tax-hike proposal, Proposition 30, and pushing another ballot measure to reduce unions’ political influence, Proposition 32.

His liberal sister, civil rights lawyer Molly Munger, has also spent tens of millions of dollars in the campaign by promoting Proposition 38, another tax-hike proposal.

Together, they’ve created a headache for Brown, who has been forced to fend off attacks from the left and the right while he campaigns for Proposition 30. If voters reject his tax plan, Brown says there will be nearly $6 billion in budget cuts, mostly from public schools.
