The king of talk isn’t going anywhere.

Larry King has extended his contract at CNN through 2011, one of his agents, John Ferriter, said today, confirming a report on the blog TV Newser.

‘He’s absolutely thrilled to continue to call CNN home,’ said Ferriter, who did the deal with fellow William Morris agent Jim Wiatt.

A CNN spokeswoman declined to comment other than to praise King as ‘the best there is’ and someone who will ‘be here for a long time.’

King’s new deal means that the cable news channel isn’t immediately in the market for a new host for its popular 6 p.m. PT interview program. In recent weeks, reports of Katie Couric’s dissatisfaction at CBS News prompted rumors that she was considering jumping to CNN as King’s replacement. But a source familiar with the situation said she never was in talks with CNN for the job.
