With Tony Romo out for a month with a broken pinkie on his throwing hand, 40-year-old Brad Johnson will start at quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. I had my friend Khalid El-Bayoumy of STATS LLC run some numbers for me on older quarterbacks, and he came back with this:

-- The only other quarterback in Cowboys history to start a game at 40 or older is Vinny Testaverde, who turned 41 during the 2004 season when he was their regular starter.

-- The only other NFL teams to have started two different quarterbacks at age 40 or older (since 1960) are the Chiefs (Warren Moon and Len Dawson), Raiders (George Blanda and Vince Evans) and Chargers (Doug Flutie and Johnny Unitas).

-- The oldest active NFL quarterbacks are:

Brad Johnson, Dal 40 09/13/1968

Brett Favre, NYJ 39 10/10/1969

Jamie Martin, SF 38 02/08/1970

Jeff Garcia, TB 38 02/24/1970

Trent Green, STL 38 07/09/1970
