OK, I’ll admit it, I wasn’t sold on Mike Singletary replacing the fired Mike Nolan as coach of the San Francisco 49ers. Why isn’t Mike Martz getting the job, I wondered, considering he has so much more experience?

Well, I was wrong.

Consider me a convert, sold out for Singletary (to borrow his phrase.)

How could you not be inspired by his postgame comments on Sunday? He explained why he sent nonchalant tight end Vernon Davis (pictured at left)to the showers after a boneheaded personal-foul penalty.

We need more of that in the NFL.
