There had been talk of the Lakers perhaps signing another player when reserve point guard Jordan Farmar went down with an injury and eventually had surgery on his left knee.

But the Lakers never signed a player.

Lakers Coach Phil Jackson was asked how he felt about the team’s adding another player.

As is his way, Jackson looked at the reporter and quipped: ‘Who’s they?’

He had this half-crooked smile on his face. ‘Is that we?’

Jackson was referring to the reporters standing before him at practice.

OK, the reporters agreed.

Jackson said it was talked about and that General Manager Mitch Kupchak left it up to him.

Although the Lakers went through some tough times when Sasha Vujacic went down with back spasms and Luke Walton had a foot problem, Jackson decided against doing anything. Vujacic and Walton are playing again and Farmar is expected back this week.
