So there will be a hobbit in the NBA’s Rookies versus Sophomores game in Phoenix next month during the league’s All-Star weekend.

That would be Clipper rookie guard Eric Gordon, who was named to the team, according to an announcement made by TNT a few minutes ago. Gordon will be facing teammate Al Thornton, who was named to the sophomore team. NBA assistant coaches voted on the selections. Wonder if dinner will be on the line for Gordon and Thornton?

Here is the rest of the TNT press release:

Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant, the 2007-2008 NBA Rookie of the Year, will join teammate Jeff Green, on the Sophomore team, which also includes the Hawks’ Al Horford, Thornton, the 76ers’ Thaddeus Young, the Knicks’ Wilson Chandler, the Pistons’ Rodney Stuckey and a pair of teammates from the Rockets -- Aaron Brooks and Luis Scola.

Mayo and Marc Gasol from the Grizzlies and Greg Oden and Rudy Fernandez from the Trailblazers. The Thunder’s Russell Westbrook, the Clippers’ Gordon, the Heat’s Michael Beasley and the Nets’ Brook Lopez round out the Rookie team.
