TEMPE, Ariz. -- Mike Napoli and Freddy Sandoval drove in two runs each, leading the Angels to a 6-4 victory over the Royals today.

Chris Pettit snapped a 4-4 tie in the fifth inning, with a single that drove home Sean Rodriguez with what turned out to be the winning run.

Dustin Moseley, one of the candidates for the lone vacancy in the Angels’ starting rotation, pitched two shutout innings, giving up no hits and striking out three. Moseley struggled last spring, when he was coming off surgery, and ended up spending much of the season at triple-A Salt Lake.

‘Physically, where his arm is now, it’s like night and day,’ Angels Manager Mike Scioscia said.

Moseley, 27, is out of options, so the Angels must keep him on the major league roster or risk losing him on waivers. Moseley has experience as a swingman and could remain with the Angels in that capacity if he does not win the fifth starter’s job.

Nick Adenhart, another candidate for that job, followed Moseley and gave up one run and two hits in two innings.

The Angels play the Rockies tomorrow, with John Lackey scheduled to make his first spring start.
