Maybe there is a method to President Barack Obama‘s March Madness. His unprecedented presidential public breakdown of the NCAA tournament could have far-reaching implications.

Consider:

The winners in President Obama’s first-round picks involve 23 states, totaling 329 electoral votes. In the mix are such important swing states as Ohio and Florida, plus nine states that he didn’t win in November.

And that doesn’t include California -- President Obama wrote off California, Cal State Northridge, UCLA and USC. But, let’s face it, the chance of California, and its 55 electoral votes, going red in the near future is about the same as a No. 16 seed upsetting a No. 1.
