Note to U.S. Open tennis viewers

The Tennis Channel gets a boost. Because of the nearly three hours of tennis at Arthur Ashe Stadium played by Melanie Oudin and Maria Sharapova before the 17-year-old Oudin pulled off the upset, CBS is passing off most of the Andy Roddick-John Isner match to the Tennis Channel.

CBS’s tennis block Saturday ended at 3 p.m. Pacific time and Tennis Channel honchos are positively giddy here in the media room.

And Arthur Ashe Stadium patrons are still buzzing about Oudin’s 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 third-round upset of the 29th-seeded Sharapova, who at one time was No. 1 in the world. Read more here soon.

Roddick is up 6-5 in the first set and he and Isner are on serve.
