Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf, iwho was nvited to join the NHL’s preseason media tour this week in New York, made the interview rounds Wednesday by visiting with representatives from Sports Illustrated, NBC, the NHL Network, the CBC, the Associated Press and other media outlets.

But the real fun assignment went to Washington’s Alexander Ovechkin, who drove a Zamboni on Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue, near the NHL’s headquarters.

The media tour, which also included visits to Yankee Stadium and the NHL store in Manhattan--think NBA store, only much smaller--was wrapping up Wednesday. Getzlaf was scheduled to fly back to California on Thursday to prepare for training camp.

The Ducks will report to Anaheim Ice for physicals on Saturday and will take to the ice for the first time on Sunday. The Kings are on the same timetable but doing their stuff at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.
