Sunday’s question of the day: After the first BCS rankings, who has the most overrated and underrated team?

The most overrated school in Sunday’s first BCS standings? The way the contenders played the last few days, you could almost say every body. The top four schools--Florida, Alabama, Texas, Boise State--all skidded to victory. We’ll give most overrated for now to No.6 Iowa, which came close to losing two clunkers at home against Northern Iowa and Arkansas State. Most underrated? That’s easy: Oregon. The Ducks are No.11 in the BCS but still paying the price for that ugly opening loss at Boise State. Since, though Oregon has won five straight games and, at 3-0, is the only remaining unbeaten school in the Pac-10.

The Broncos landed at No. 4 in the first Bowl Championship Series rankings, its highest ever position in the standings – a huge shock if only because no non-BCS conference team has ever gotten that high before bowl season.
The highest Boise State has ever gotten was No. 9. So now that Boise State is as close as it has ever been to the top of the BCS standings, does that improve its chances of playing for a national championship should it remain undefeated?
Hardly. No non-BCS team that has gone undefeated has ever had the opportunity to play for a national championship. This could be as high as the Broncos get all season, even if they win the rest of their games. Then there is TCU.
The Horned Frogs are No. 8. If they go undefeated, two non-BCS conferences would have teams in the top 6. Only one non-BCS team is guaranteed a spot in a BCS game. Beware the brewing firestorm.
