The loudest thundersticks at Angel Stadium today belonged to the Yankees -- until the Angels’ Howie Kendrick came to bat in the fifth inning.

After Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Johnny Damon all hit solo home runs off Angels starter Jered Weaver, Kendrick hit his solo shot off Andy Pettitte to cut the Yankees’ lead to 3-1 in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series.

It was Kendrick’s first playoff homer in his career.

The Yankees won the first two games at Yankee Stadium in the best-of-seven playoff that leads to the World Series.
