UCLA basketball: Recruit’s decision approaches

This is a big weekend for the future of UCLA basketball, and there’s nothing the Bruins can do but watch and wait.

Josh Smith, the highly regarded recruit from Kent, Wash., is scheduled to make an official visit to the Washington campus. By all accounts, the 6-foot-9 center has narrowed his choices to the Bruins and the Huskies.

His parents recently told the Seattle Times that a decision will be announced soon. Sources close to the situation have said that Smith’s father is sold on UCLA but his mother would like him to remain close to home.
