Tickets still available for Saturday night’s Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation dinner

Those wishing to purchase tickets to the seventh annual Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation’s ‘In the Spirit of the Game’ auction and dinner, scheduled for Saturday night at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, can do so by calling TAI Events at (310) 996-1188.

Hall of Famers Bob Feller, Brooks Robinson and Robin Roberts, St. Louis Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa, the family of Dodgers coach and former player Manny Mota, and TV/film producer Laura Ziskin will be honored at the event, which begins at 6 p.m.

About 1,500 guests, including many prominent figures from the world of sports, entertainment and media, are expected to attend the event, which will be co-hosted by CNN talk-show host Larry King and former major league pitcher Rob Dibble. Comedian Joe Piscopo will serve as master of ceremonies.

Tickets for the dinner/auction start at $300, and proceeds will assist scouts in need because of job loss, illness or financial hardship. The event has raised more than $1 million in six years.

Robinson, the former Baltimore Orioles third baseman, will receive the ‘Player Lifetime Achievement Award.’ Feller, the former Cleveland Indians pitcher, and the late Cy Slapnicka will receive the inaugural ‘Player/Scout Award.’

Roberts, the former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, will receive the ‘Scout’s Dream Award.’ LaRussa will receive the ‘Tommy Lasorda Manager’s Award.’ The Mota family will receive the ‘Ray Boone Family Award.’ Ziskin will receive the ‘Dave Winfield Humanitarian Award.’
