The Anaheim city attorney’s office has dropped misdemeanor charges against professional skateboarder Mike Vallely (who is also known as Mike V) stemming from a fight he was involved in during a Ducks game in November.

Vallely was cited by police for fighting in public after getting into an altercation with a fan over a hockey stick that Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer intended to give to Vallely’s daughter. Video of the fight can be seen here.

Following the incident, the Ducks cut promotional ties with Vallely, who wrote a blog that appeared on the team’s website. He has protested the team’s actions on his personal website.

Vallely expressed gratitude over the charges being dropped and said he believes his actions were justified.

‘I felt like I had no choice but to stop the aggressive actions of the Ducks fan who was a attempting to steal a gift from Scott Niedermayer from my daughter,’ said Vallely in a statement.
