The Angels lost to the Oakland Athletics, 4-2, in Phoenix Municipal Stadium on Saturday to fall to 0-2-1 in Cactus League play, a tie with the Chicago White Sox and losses to Colorado and Oakland.

Jered Weaver, the Angels’ probable opening-day starter, looked shaky in his spring debut, giving up two runs, on a pair of sacrifice flies, and three hits in 1 2/3 innings. The right-hander walked one, struck out one and threw 36 pitches.

‘For the first time out, it was a good workout for him,’ Manager Mike Scioscia said. ‘His command, which is a big part of his game, he usually works into. He was behind some hitters, threw a couple good breaking balls ... he got a good workout in.’

The Angels managed only seven hits and are batting just .215 in three exhibition games. Terry Evans and Hank Conger doubled for the Angels.
