The Kings and Ducks have given qualifying offers to a number of restricted free agents in advance of Monday’s deadline to extend those offers or see those players become unrestricted free agents on Thursday.

The Kings sent qualifying offers to all five of their restricted free agents: forwards Marc-Andre Cliche, Rich Clune, Corey Elkins, Brad Richardson and Trevor Lewis.

The Ducks sent offers to right wing Bobby Ryan and defensemen James Wisniewski and Brendan Mikkelson. They did not extend offers to left wings Shawn Weller and Bobby Bolt or goaltender J.P. Levasseur. However, a team spokesman said the Ducks are negotiating a contract extension with Levasseur.

The Ducks are also still awaiting word from right wing Teemu Selanne and center Saku Koivu on whether they plan to return or retire. Each can become an unrestricted free agent on Thursday and the Ducks’ summer strategy will be influenced by their decisions. If Selanne returns it wouldn’t be surprising to see Koivu return too.
