Hall of Fame jockey Johnny Sellers died early Friday at a nursing home in Arkansas, his son, Mark, told the Daily Racing Form. He was 72.
He rode Carry Black to victory in the 1961 Kentucky Derby and Preakness, the year he also tied an American record winning eight consecutive races.
Born in Los Angeles, Sellers also rode Hail to All to victory in the 1965 Belmont Stakes.
