Angels ace Jered Weaver, who is leading the major leagues with 124 strikeouts, was not named to the All-Star Game, which will be played in Anaheim.

What did he think of it? Well, he acted as if it meant nothing, and even sarcastically acted as if he didn’t know about the snub until reporters asked him for his reaction before Sunday’s game against the Royals.

‘I didn’t make it,’ he said with a blank stare. ‘I didn’t know.’
His reaction, then?

‘It is what it is,’ he said. ‘What do you want me to say? You guys are the ones that hyped this up, not me. I told you ... whatever happens, happens. It didn’t happen. I’m not worried about it. Life goes on.’

Leading up to the announcement, Weaver had routinely stated he wasn’t getting his hopes up, even though he had put up an 8-3 record and a 2.82 ERA and seemed a lock to make his first All-Star Game.

He stuck to that line again Sunday, saying, ‘I think you guys expected me to make it and that’s what the hype is about.’

Weaver did say he was happy for teammate Torii Hunter, who was the lone Angels’ player to make the All-Star roster, selected as a reserve.

‘It’s awesome. It’s great. He’s had a heck of a year. He’s more than equipped to represent the Angels, that’s for sure,’ Weaver said.
