The UCLA men’s and women’s basketball teams will hold a Dribble for the Cure event Sunday morning on campus to raise money for pediatric cancer research and treatment.

Participants will dribble a basketball along a 1.2-mile course through campus, starting at Drake Stadium and ending at Pauley Pavilion. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., with a welcome ceremony at Drake Stadium at 10 a.m.

More than 750 participants raised more than $90,000 last year, the second year the event was held.

‘Our goal is to cure all children with cancer and minimize the effects of treatment,’ said Dr. Kathy Sakamoto, chief of the division of pediatric hematology/oncology at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. ‘This event makes a significant impact in improving the lives of all of our patients.’

At the conclusion of the event, participants will be able to obtain autographs and pose for pictures with the UCLA men’s and women’s basketball teams. Each participant is asked to bring his or her own basketball.
