Samsung televisions could soon be running Google TV, according to an executive with the South Korean electronics giant.

Yoon Boo Keun, the head of Samsung Electronic Co.’s television business, said in an interview with Bloomberg in Seoul that the company would make an official announcement in January. Samsung was also open to using chips from Intel Corp., Keun said.

The Google TV service aims to combine television and the Internet. Last month, Japanese competitor Sony released HDTVs equipped with Google TV.

Hollywood hasn’t taken well to Google TV, with the television industry widely blocking content from playing on the service.
