Who knew so many famous folks could apologize all in the same week? First it was the Boss, admitting he blundered for doing an exclusive deal with Wal-Mart. Then it was President Obama, acknowledging he’d nominated too many high-level administration officials who hadn’t paid their taxes. And now, finally, inevitably, it’s Christian Bale, who just gave an exclusive full-throated apology -- not to Oprah, not to Diane Sawyer, but to KROQ morning DJs Kevin and Bean. He phoned in to their show this morning -- you can hear the whole exchange right here -- and laid it on the line:

‘It has been a miserable week for me,’ he told the DJs. ‘I know I have a potty mouth ..., but I was way out of order. I acted like a punk; I regret that.... I make no excuses -- it is inexcusable.’ He went on to say that he hoped the blowback from his behavior wouldn’t stop people from seeing ‘Terminator Salvation,’ the film he was at work on when the outburst happened last summer. ‘I’m asking people, please do not allow my onetime lapse in judgment, my incredibly embarrassing meltdown, to overshadow this movie and to have all of those people’s hard work [from the film’s cast and crew] go to waste.’

Knowing he was dealing with morning radio jokesters, Bale added: ‘Feel free to make fun of me ... I deserve it completely.’
